ChatGPT and Other AI Tools Will Not Replace Your Marketing Team
In the past year, we’ve heard about all the new artificial intelligence (AI) tools (like ChatGPT, OpenAI, Bard) that are being so widely used online for content creation, blog writing, and other marketing tasks.
These tools are designed to simulate human intelligence based on real-time online data and advanced technology. They’ve made the research process faster and certainly, more interesting.

Although AI is a helpful tool, it still needs human input to function.
AI is a tool to augment people’s specialized skills.

Notice the key word used here is TOOL. AI is not an innovator; it can’t create new ideas. You still need skilled humans on staff to manage the outputs of these tools. AI has its limitations, and it also has its purposes.
Here are some limitations of AI and things to keep in mind when exploring AI tools.
AI Tools Have Been Around for a Long Time
AI tools have been around right under your nose for a long time. AI is nothing new. Your social media feeds have been AI-supported for years! (Ever heard of an algorithm?) As are Siri and Google Assistant, and we have not even considered if these AI tools could replace human assistants in the future. The reason ChatGPT is getting so much hype is because of how popular it became in such a short period of time.
Why AI Tools Will Not Replace Your Marketing Team
Just as Amazon’s warehouses aren’t entirely run by robots, ChatGPT cannot replace your marketing team. Certain tasks can be automated, but humans still largely run the operation. AI cannot generate fresh ideas or craft one-of-a-kind campaigns since it pulls from data, ideas, and information that already exists. If a business were to rely solely on AI for their marketing, they would lose their ability to stand out from the competition. There’d be no more unique copy or innovative campaigns, and social media posts would become mundane and repetitive.
AI Does Not Produce Factual or 100% Accurate Results
On the home screen of ChatGPT, there is a warning: “May occasionally generate incorrect information.” You need a human eye to check the work of AI to make sure the results are correct and relevant to your brand. Plus, unless you are an expert at writing AI prompts, you are likely to get results that need editing before you can use them. Don’t copy, paste, and publish!
AI Has No Capability to Feel Human Emotions
Consider the #1 quality of successful marketing: creating an emotional connection with your audience! AI cannot feel emotion so it CANNOT make your audience feel anger, envy, FOMO, or any of the other emotions marketers use on a daily basis. Humans respond to humans. If your brand’s marketing doesn’t feel or sound human, it won’t resonate with your ideal audience.
AI Tools Cannot Make Authentic Images
Have you noticed that AI-generated visuals and pictures are a little off? It’s obvious when a picture is generated by AI; whether it be a smooshed face, a deformed hand, the slightly animated look, or just a bit *too* perfect. An AI-generated image may look life-like, but it certainly doesn’t look real.
On the other hand, real images have the power to connect with your audience on a more personal level, fostering genuine engagement and strengthening your brand’s identity. Instead of investing in pricey AI image generators that produce sketchy results, it’s wiser to invest in a strategic social media roadmap. By dedicating a few minutes to capturing real photos & utilizing the right on-brand images in your marketing content, you can effectively drive results for your business.
