What do I post? Creating GREAT organic social media content.
It’s a common stumbling block for social media managers everywhere: What do I post? How do I create great organic content that will cut across the clutter, stop the thumb scroll, and capture the attention of your ideal customer?
We’ve written other blog posts about getting super-specific about your ideal customer and what to say to your customers throughout the sales journey, but creating the actual content is where many folks get stuck. It can be really intimidating when you consider all of the competition on social. How do you stand out? What does your ideal customer want to see from you? What kind of value can you provide them?
For other content creators, the questions lean more towards the format or placement of their posts. Should I create a video on this event? Will this be a good Instagram Story or better as a Reel? Is this better content for Facebook?
Regardless of your organic content creation conundrum, the answer always lies in what makes YOUR business unique and what problem(s) you solve for your customer with your business offerings. Remember that your social media channels are the perfect platforms to tell the story of your business and your product(s). Great organic social media content resonates with your ideal customer, fosters engagement with your brand, and ultimately drives sales for your business.
Where Creativity Runs Wild
I’ve followed HorseSpirit Arts Gallery on social for some time, as I’ve known owner & local Howard County (MD) community pillar Robin Holliday for a few years now. Their organic social media content never fails to grab my eye on my news feed; not just because they have an entire gallery of gorgeous artwork to choose from, but because their posts give me a peek into their business. Their captions are well-thought-out and on-brand, and every post has a purpose. Their social content truly reflects their brand as a peaceful, uplifting sanctuary for everyone. (Give them a follow on Facebook and Instagram. You’ll see what I mean.) So I knew I wanted to talk to their gallery manager Dona Grant to learn about her content creation process.
Watch our recent conversation via Zoom below to hear how Dona approaches the “what do I post?” question, how she keeps her feed fresh, her strategies for rainy day content, and how she’s grown her social media skills over time.
Full disclosure: HorseSpirit is an FWC client, as we manage their social media advertising campaigns for them. And, Dona has been (& continues to be) responsible for their organic content well before we began to work with them.
Did you get any great ideas from Dona? Was this a helpful interview for you to watch? Want to see more of these video blogs? Let me know.
